Help Save Grocery in Wedgwood

A Call to Action by Wedgwood Community Council's current president, Per Johnson

The design review board’s recommendation is ultimately a recommendation and is not necessarily binding.  However, the city’s planner has been clear that she is not supportive of a curb cut off 35th Ave NE and is not supportive of the surface parking.  Again, noble in principal but not context sensitive given the current site conditions (in my opinion).

If you too are concerned about losing grocery in Wedgwood, consider reaching out to the following people and let share your concern.  It may be helpful to reference the project’s SDCI Project Number 3040032.

CTIONS

  1. Email (Maritza.Rivera@seattle.gov) or call (206-684-8804) Councilmember Maritza Rivera and let her know this is an issue you’d like her to engage with.
  2. Email (marco.lowe@seattle.gov) the Mayor’s Chief Operating Officer, Marco Lowe, and let him know that this project is important to you and should be an issue the mayor’s office engages with.
  3. Email (Theresa.Neylon@seattle.gov) or call (206-615-0179) the project planner, Theresa Neylon, and let her know that you are in favor of a curbcut off 35th Ave NE and a small (13-stall) parking lot as part of the Wedgwood Center redevelopment…only if you are.
  4. Email (Nathan.Torgelson@seattle.gov) or call (206-684-0343) the Director of Seattle Department of Construction and Inspections (SDCI), Nathan Torgelseon, and let him know you are in favor of a curbcut off 35th Ave NE and a small (13-stall) parking lot as part of the Wedgwood Center redevelopment…only if you are.

" I am concerned with the possibility of not having a grocery store in the Wedgwood neighborhood. I feel that the concessions the developer is making in terms of parking and curb cuts are the best that can be had at this site
I am in favor of a curbcut off 35th Ave NE and a small (13-stall) parking lot as part of the Wedgwood Center redevelopment.
